A Cinematic Triumph by Paolo Sorrentino
ABOUT THIS EVENT
La Grande Bellezza is Paolo Sorrentino's visual triumph and a modern reinvention of Italian cinema. In a mesmerizing mix of decadence and melancholy, Jep Gambardella wanders through Rome, searching for meaning in a world of external appearances. With its unparalleled aesthetics and bold soundtrack, the film elevates the genre of 'city symphony' to new heights. On the 19th of January, Twan Arts will demonstrate why this film is an undisputed Game Changer.
La Grande Bellezza is a visually overwhelming masterpiece often regarded as a modern echo of Fellini's La Dolce Vita. The film won the Oscar for Best Foreign Film and serves as a melancholic ode to the city of Rome and the quest for meaning.
We follow Jep Gambardella, a 65-year-old journalist and theater critic who penned a successful novel decades ago. He is the undisputed king of Roman nightlife, effortlessly moving through a world of decadent parties, intellectual high-society, and absurd characters. However, after his 65th birthday and receiving news about an old love, Jep begins to view his hollow existence through a different lens.
