ABOUT THIS EVENT
In 1924, the acclaimed director Carl Theodor Dreyer crafted one of the few surviving films about homosexuality from the silent era. This compelling narrative follows a renowned painter who falls in love with Michael, his younger male protégé, whose affections are unreciprocated. As their relationship unfolds, challenges arise when Michael is drawn to a baroness seeking a portrait. The film poignantly captures the struggles of queer love in a time when such narratives were often suppressed. After the screening, join us for a discussion on the history of queer films and LGBTQ+ history in Eindhoven. Don't miss the pre-film shorts that shed light on early cinema!
