Eleven-year-old Meissy is overjoyed when her father Tom returns home after years of traveling, but her mother forbids her from interacting with him. Is it because he's a vagabond? During secret visits, she learns about Tom and his world of wanderers, but she also discovers that he sees things that aren't there and believes he is a king.
