Kurosawa's thrilling epic tells the story of desperate villagers in a 16th-century village who hire seven samurai to protect them from bandits. This influential action-adventure film had a massive impact on later westerns and action movies. Featuring legendary actors Toshiro Mifune and Takashi Shimura, it weaves philosophy and entertainment, subtle human emotions, and ruthless action into a rich, visual historical thriller and moral-political fable all in one. A group of rice farmers hires a band of samurai to defend them from marauding bandits. 4K restoration by Toho.
