ABOUT THIS EVENT

In 1974, Alejandro Jodorowsky embarked on what could be the most ambitious film endeavor ever attempted: a feature adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune. Not just creating a film, Jodorowsky aimed to become 'a prophet.' His ultimate goal? To 'change the world.' For two years, he collaborated with his 'Spiritual Warriors,' tirelessly bringing the fantastic world of Dune to life. To secure funding from Hollywood, they crafted over 3,000 storyboards and conceived astonishing costumes and a powerful narrative. As Jodorowsky's producer Michel Seydoux said, 'It should have been enough. But it wasn't.' Nicolas Winding Refn adds, 'I believe this film wasn't made in America because they feared it. They were afraid of his imagination, scared of his spirit and what it could do to them.' Jodorowsky’s Dune chronicles the story of this extraordinary film that was never realized. Premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in 2013, it became one of the highest-rated films of 2014, winning numerous awards and even landing on the Oscar shortlist for Best Documentary.
