In a time loop amidst an alien invasion, a resourceful yet isolated young woman must face the repetition of her own death until she meets a shy young man who is trapped in the same cycle. Starting in 2004 with Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese sci-fi light novel, this story has evolved into manga series, an American graphic novel, and the Hollywood blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow. Now, it transforms into an anime directed by Kenichiro Akimoto. Each iteration begins anew but with a twist. This narrative amusingly mirrors the themes of Groundhog Day (1993) blended with video game mechanics: every time you die, your day resets, but you gain more knowledge of impending events (involving an alien force and Earth's total destruction).
