Journey Through Time in an Alien Invasion!

ABOUT THIS EVENT

In a time loop amidst an alien invasion, a resourceful yet isolated young woman must face the repetition of her own death until she meets a shy young man who is trapped in the same cycle. Together, they battle to escape the loop. Starting in 2004 with Hiroshi Sakurazaka's Japanese sci-fi light novel, this story has evolved into manga series, an American graphic novel, and the Hollywood blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow. Now, it transforms into an anime directed by Kenichiro Akimoto. Each iteration begins anew but with a twist. This narrative amusingly mirrors the themes of Groundhog Day (1993) blended with video game mechanics: every time you die, your day resets, but you gain more knowledge of impending events (involving an alien force and Earth's total destruction). Key changes by Akimoto and his team include shifting the main characters from heavily armed soldiers to civilians dealing with the chaos caused by the alien landing, and transitioning the lead role from Keiji to Rita. Adding depth, Rita grapples with depression, embodying the feeling of monotony as every day feels the same, leaving her indifferent about tomorrow. All You Need is Kill unravels an action-packed narrative adorned with Studio 4°C's unique design, resembling a series of therapy sessions—each day offering a chance to appreciate today’s details to grasp a brighter tomorrow.
