A Magical Cinematic Experience for Preschoolers!
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Children aged 2 to 6 will experience their very first cinema visit in our cozy theater. On Sunday mornings, toddlers and preschoolers are invited to Taartrovers Cinemini, a special program where they experience films and play in a captivating light landscape.
During Taartrovers Cinemini, we showcase beautiful, sweet, exciting, abstract, narrative, and sometimes challenging short films, specially curated for young children. Following the screenings, the little visitors play together in a light landscape featuring various installations that allow them to discover how light can create stories. They will explore shape, projection, light, shadow, stories, movement, and color. How do shadows form? Where do images come from? How can shapes appear larger or smaller and then disappear? And what stories can they see within these shapes? To adults, shadows might seem ordinary, but to children, it might be akin to magic that transforms adults into towering figures.
**PROGRAM**
We’ll take a look from the other side and see the world upside down, quite differently than before. "Under Upside Down" is a light philosophical, yet mostly very funny film program that will both surprise and amuse you. One moment we are up in the air, and the next, we are underground.
- **SALLY**
(Luna Maurer, Roel Wouters, 2005, Netherlands, 2 min)
We see one big and many small marbles in a bright white space. The marbles move back and forth, then suddenly start jumping towards the right wall, the ceiling, and down again. Are these ordinary marbles, or something else? Why do they ignore the laws of gravity? Are we looking from underneath, or downwards?
- **ANDERSLAND**
(An Vrombaut, 2022, Belgium, 7 min)
What happens when you are different from everyone else? A giraffe with a long neck—is that 'different'? Is that odd? Laugh along with the fantastic characters, quirky movements, and especially the silly sounds in Andersland.
- **UNDER UPSIDE DOWN**
(Youri Tcherenkov, 1995, France, 8 min)
Fly with the birds as we travel to distant lands in this beautifully illustrated animation. But how do you know where you are in the empty skies without any points of reference? A humorous short animation that turns the world upside down.
- **THE PARSNIP**
(Piret Sigus and Silja Saarepuu, 2022, Estonia, 7 min)
Dig deep and go underground with mouse, mole, and all the other animals that dwell at the root of the parsnip. Here, see what really happens while the farmer works the land to cultivate vegetables.
- **UNDERGROUND**
(Elise Auffray, 2014, France, 2.5 min)
In this short documentary, we explore the ground itself. Fast forward, let's witness what happens when you compost, and for a moment, live among the worms that feast on all the scraps. Only possible in film!
