ABOUT THIS EVENT
In 'Wolf Children', we follow Hana, a young mother raising her two half-wolf children between the human world and the call of nature. Directed by Mamoru Hosoda, this tender and heart-wrenching coming-of-age tale explores love, loss, and letting go, infused with a touch of everyday magic.
The film portrays Hana's journey after falling in love with a mysterious young man who is the last of his kind: a wolf capable of transforming into a human. After Hana is left to care for their two wolf children alone, she relocates deep into the Japanese countryside to protect them. Yuki, the stubborn and curious one, and Ame, who is quieter and more cautious, feel torn between the pull of nature and their human existence.
Hana's story is a beautiful narrative, resonating with themes of motherhood and the bittersweet process of growing up. As the voice of Yuki unfolds, we see not just a fairy tale but a deeply human film drawing from Hosoda's own childhood. This intimate animation classic begins gently but lingers in the heart long after watching, intertwining love, nature, and the essential art of letting go.
