TechClub: Ex Machina - Exploring the Future of AI

Not everyone feels at home in the world of technology. For some, it seems too fast, too complicated, or simply not meant for them. TechClub aims to change that. It’s about meeting, discovering, and learning together about technology in our everyday lives, our neighborhoods, and the world around us. In TechClub, we bring together curious individuals who may not have prior experience with technology. Together, we explore how technology works, what it means, and how we can understand or use it differently. This is achieved through accessible activities, discussions, and experiments, in collaboration with Buurthuis Rochus and various libraries in the Brainport region (Eindhoven, Waalre, Best, and Dommeldal), and Natlab. Whether you visit once or join us regularly, everyone can be a part of TechClub. We believe technology truly becomes valuable when everyone has the opportunity to participate, think, and engage. In December, we have four events: two films at Natlab and two lectures/workshops in the libraries. In the new year, there will be two more lectures and TechClub Hulpje – an open evening where people can come with all their questions about technology, from smartphones to ChatGPT, practically and philosophically. ABOUT BALTAN TechClub is an initiative of Baltan Laboratories – a development organization at the intersection of art, science, and technology. Baltan explores complex themes in an accessible manner by bringing together people from different backgrounds. Within the Technologies Otherwise program, Baltan investigates alternative perspectives on technology: not as something that happens to us, but as something we can shape together.
