DOPE: A Powerful Exploration of Drug Culture

DOPE is an impactful theater and dance performance that illustrates how drugs interconnect different layers of our society. Through dynamic hip-hop dance, monologues, and intimate conversations, the stories of a dealer, a parent, a customs officer, and a user are shared, revealing the complex role drugs play in their lives. From parties to despair, the performance confronts the consequences of dreams for quick money, the allure of social media, failing poverty policies, and the feelings of disregard experienced by many youth. Researchers from FORT-PORT, including contributors from Erasmus University Rotterdam, enhance the narrative with their insights on the fight against drug and human trafficking.
