OVER DIT EVENEMENT

Experience 'Uma (H)Ati', a powerful solo performance by Sherida Pinas, a mental health educator and performer, in collaboration with director Annemarie de Gee. This captivating show delves into trauma, processing, and healing through the lens of someone deeply engaged with these themes. When Sherida finds herself unexpectedly tasked with delivering a presentation on the brain, chaos ensues as she strives to organize her thoughts and daily life, inadvertently leading her on a journey through her own mind. Throughout the performance, she revisits memories of childhood, a marriage marked by betrayal and violence, and the pain she had long buried. 'Uma (H)Ati' brings raw themes such as domestic violence, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and infidelity to the stage, presented with honesty and humanity. It explores the impact of trauma on the brain and highlights how faith, music, and breaking the silence can pave the way to resilience and recovery. Sherida accompanies herself live on the piano, alternating between heavy emotional scenes and moments of humor and hope. The evening begins with a reading by city writer Terence de Lange and concludes with a panel discussion featuring Steven Brunswijk and Mandele Wee Wee, focusing on trauma and recovery. 'Uma (H)Ati' is a call for awareness, compassion, and breaking taboos, honoring women who, despite their pain, learn to rise again with open hearts.
