An Unmissable Musical Journey

ABOUT THIS EVENT

Locations, people, shoulders, fleeting moments can all feel like home, whether for a second, a few days, or a lifetime. In her quest to truly belong, Sarah Janneh has often felt caught between two extremes: Black and white. Brabant and Sierra Leone. Singer and actress. Loud and quiet. Full of life and scared of dying. Happy and mourning. With her solo show Brabo Leone, she embraces the richness of these dualities instead of choosing one. Through musical storytelling, reflection, resilience, and redefining how different phases of her life have shaped her, NITE ensemble member Sarah Janneh creates a musical narrative from various influences, attempting to offer a more fluid and inclusive perspective on what it means to belong. Her journey to find and redefine what it truly means to belong takes her from the carnival in Brabant to the outskirts of Johannesburg, and ultimately to her father's home in Sierra Leone. Expect a typical NITE production; hyper-musical, intimate, and urgent. Each number feels like a letter from a different chapter in life. The music evokes feelings of warmth, loss, growth, and change. Brabo Leone is a heartfelt tribute to the search for a sense of belonging. About Sarah Janneh Sarah Janneh has been a permanent member of NITE (National International Theater Ensemble) in Groningen since 2022. She performed and sang in productions directed by Guy Weizman, such as Yara’s Wedding (nominated for the Dutch Theater Festival) and Before / After, and under the direction of Eline Arbo in Witch Hunt. In addition to her theater work, Sarah is also regularly seen in television series and films, playing Queen Máxima in "Koningshuis de musical" and returning in season 2 of the successful "Tropenjaren." She also has a regular column in &C and is gaining popularity on Instagram and TikTok, where she advocates for body positivity.
