ABOUT THIS EVENT
Why does anger sometimes feel bigger than ourselves? 'Kakek, Opa & Ik' is a magical realistic family performance filled with puppetry, live music, and hidden stories about ancestry, memories, and healing.
Sometimes it feels like a storm resides in Novi's heart, but no one knows why. One day, she flees to the attic, a place filled with boxes, yellowed photographs, and scents of the past. There, two mysterious figures emerge, disappearing into old photo albums. Novi follows them into a journey through her family's hidden stories.
Using photo albums, letters, and forgotten melodies, she dives into the past. What begins as a playful discovery transforms into a magical exploration of her family history and the shared colonial past between the Netherlands and Indonesia that still resonates today. Along the way, Novi learns that the anger she feels may be older than herself and that emotions can travel through generations. Understanding often begins with looking, listening, and feeling.
'Kakek, Opa & Ik' is a touching and visually rich performance about heritage, memories, and the power of imagination. **Exclusions apply for consumables. Children must also have a ticket.**
