Enjoy the pleasure of watching films with both awareness and philosophical insight.
**FILM AS PHILOSOPHY**
The phrase 'Let's watch a movie' is common, but unlike a good book or a piece of music, we often associate film with simple entertainment. Yet film offers much more as an art form. Even when we believe we're switching our minds off, we draw conclusions about what we see and hear, prompting us to think.
**SESSION 1** | 28-10 | WHAT IS FILM GOOD FOR?
Explore the original function of film and why it provokes thought, unveils social issues, and provides distraction. We question what films are genuinely good for and their potential to evoke profound reflections.
**SESSION 2** | 11-11 | THE (CINEMATIC) MOMENT
Discover the unique power of cinematic moments and how they illuminate our human experience of time. Discuss how films make even the briefest moments feel tangible and significant.
**SESSION 3** | 25-11 | WONDER
Explore the infinite ways films stir curiosity and wonder. Analyze how they challenge your perceptions and invite you into the unexpected.
**SESSION 4** | 09-12 | SLEEP
Dive into the fascinating portrayal of sleep in cinema and its relation to the history of thought about sleep. Investigate whether characters are truly sleeping in films and why certain movies lull their audience to slumber.
