ABOUT THIS EVENT
Next Real Talks brings creatives together for open discussions about the realities of the creative life—insights into the workflow, including both the challenges and successes. In an intimate and interactive setting, we create space for honest dialogue, listening to one another and exchanging ideas and experiences.
During this talk, we explore the power of comedy in film, highlighting a genre that continues to evolve within both mainstream and independent cinema. How do you craft humor that resonates on a limited budget? What themes and perspectives shape comedic storytelling? And how do you translate timing, tone, and absurdity from script to screen? In this session, we will delve into what it takes to work within this genre, the challenges of making people laugh, and why comedy remains such an important reflection of contemporary culture.
This moderated panel features filmmakers and comedians at various stages of their careers engaging in conversation and sharing insights into the creative process behind bringing humor to the screen. We welcome actress and presenter Lonne Gosling, actor and composer Joep Vermolen, and filmmaker Jochem de Vet. The audience is encouraged to join the discussion and ask questions.
Given that this talk revolves around comedy, where language, nuance, and timing play crucial roles, the conversation will be conducted in Dutch.
