ABOUT THIS EVENT
On Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 16:00 to 18:00, at the Auditorium of Natlab, we will delve into the growth issues facing our region with Anne Seghers. Key guests include Anton Bos, Roy Thijssen, and moderated by Lisa Peters.
The Eindhoven highways have become a significant bottleneck, causing substantial time loss for businesses due to traffic congestion. As a solution, the Ministry of Infrastructure has proposed additional lanes on the N2 and A2 highways. Even with a focus on public transportation, heavy congestion is inevitable, as discussed recently in the Eindhovens Dagblad. Last year, 374 million euros were allocated for highway improvements and 129 million for a new 'Brainport line' bus route.
Historically, during earlier growth spurts from companies like Philips in the 50s and 60s, mobility improvements were prioritized over urban expansion. Notably, planner J.M. de Casseres was brought to Eindhoven in the 1930s to develop a regional mobility plan, emphasizing the importance of green spaces amidst urban development.
Join us as we explore the role of the water-soil system on regional scale jumps and discuss potential hurdles in the current growth strategy with fascinating experts at this pivotal forum.
