Dive into the hidden imperfections of cinema with Kevin Toma!

ABOUT THIS EVENT

No matter how much effort goes into films, sometimes a microphone slips into the shot, or a scene appears blurrier than intended. Such blunders can disrupt our viewing experience, yet they also testify to the human nature of filmmaking. This is the fourth night of the course 'The Style of Film', which consists of four evenings in total! In this final session, we will pay tribute to the beautiful flaws of films: their scratches and stains, jerky shots, editing errors, and clumsy actors. Expect to see films in a new light, knowing that even the shadow of the cameraman adds to their charm. COURSE | THE STYLE OF FILM How does a film's style come about? Film journalist Kevin Toma (de Volkskrant) unravels this in four evenings through surprising scenes from classics and contemporary cinema. A playful yet in-depth course for anyone who loves watching films and wants to understand what makes them work. EVENING 1 | 04-11 EVENING 2 | 18-11 EVENING 3 | 02-12 ABOUT KEVIN TOMA Kevin Toma (Sittard, 1974) studied film studies in Nijmegen.
