Step into the world of Ida, a pianist battling dementia, in this moving VR journey.
ABOUT THIS EVENT
In this animated, interactive VR experience, we embody Ida, a 72-year-old pianist living with dementia. 'A Long Goodbye' is a poetic journey about the extended farewell between two loved ones who have shared a life together.
The experience narrates the story of Ida, revealing a day in her life as her reality slowly fades away. The apartment she has shared with her beloved husband Daniel feels initially empty and undefined. Through interaction with objects and the playback of Daniel's recordings, her playful world gradually comes to life, as if being painted right before our eyes.
As puzzle pieces help to trigger memories and conversations, Ida begins to rediscover herself. Simultaneously, we witness Daniel's hope of staying connected as he realizes their remaining time together may be limited. 'A Long Goodbye' explores the impact of dementia, but above all, it is a tale of love and the prolonged farewell of two individuals who have lived a life together.
