A Musical Celebration of Rural Life
ABOUT THIS EVENT
For forty years, Rowwen Hèze has been the quintessential sound of the countryside. Their music is passed down from generation to generation. As they prepare for their biggest homecoming performance yet, in celebration of their fortieth anniversary, the dynamics among the band members are laid bare. What started as a friendship has now become a marriage, with its fair share of tension. In working on new music, the band members continually strive to reconnect.
Frontman Jack Poels (1957) has spent his entire career writing songs about the people in and around his hometown of America. He captures the authenticity of rural life with his small yet meaningful descriptions, at a time when the countryside is changing beyond recognition due to the decline of farming and even local dialects. For the first time, he has decided to write a song for his father, who passed away from complications of MS when Jack was thirteen. It is a tribute to his father and the village that compels him now more than ever to open his heart.
