A Journey with Words by Frank van Pamelen
ABOUT THIS EVENT
Words matter, especially in the realm of Frank van Pamelen. Writer, poet, columnist, and cabaret artist, he is above all a word artist. On NPO Radio 1, through podcasts and publications, and on ever more stages, he plays with language, surprising us with forms and shifting perspectives. Meanwhile, policymakers and opinion leaders do something similar, but instead aim to manipulate power, media, and the people around them.
In ‘Hebba Nolla’, Frank examines this phenomenon, cutting through the nonsense with cryptic twists and quirky logic. With inventive songs and PowerPoint poetry, he explores meaning and nonsense, complete and half-truths. These invented truths seem to breathe the zeitgeist more heavily over time. Frank draws connections and ties points together, placing question and exclamation marks. Everything rhymes and sticks together seamlessly as he weaves a web of words that ultimately matters immensely.
About Frank van Pamelen: Frank van Pamelen has won, among others, the Kees Stip Prize for his light verse oeuvre and the audience award at the Amsterdam Cabaret Festival. He hosts a current language column on NPO Radio 1 and annually organizes the national LichteGedichtenDag.
